Passion – Driving People Since the Beginning

Finding one’s passion is like turning on a light in a room that’s been dark for centuries.  At first it’s blinding, but once you can see, ANYTHING becomes possible!

I’ve been reading Crush IT by Gary Vaynerchuk for the last few days.  I’m half way through the book right now and I have to say…  It’s truly an awesome read!

He started working in a Liquor Store with his father when he was 15 yrs old…  But before that, he was a proven entrepreneur.  By age 8, he had a successful lemonade stand franchise with 7 different Stands and friends working it for him.  Then he moved onto bigger and better things…  Trading and selling baseball cards where he dominated until he was pulled out of the malls and into his dad’s liquor store!

He already built a career before he was even old enough to pay taxes!  Now that’s awesome and it just goes to show you what you can do with a lot of passion and determination!

So as I’m reading the book, I’m thinking about my passion.  What is it that drives me the most?  What gets me up early in the morning?  What keeps me from sleeping at night? And the answer to those questions started out in 2006.

When I was first introduced to Network Marketing.  The idea of working for myself and making untold millions was radically changing how I saw my life.  Thinking it was possible for ME, kept me up all night and dreaming during the day.  Every time I thought about the possibilities my palms would sweat, my heart would race, and my mind would frolic with delusions of grandeur.

I had been sold an idea. Now it wasn’t the money that kept me up, it was the idea of the life that money would buy.  But that wasn’t my passion, it was my dream.  It took me a long time to tell the difference and really “nail down” what my passion truly was.  Truthfully, it was very recently that I finally discovered my true passion.

Last weekend I was talking with my Dad about the book and he asked me, “What are you passionate about?“  To that I said, “Helping People.“  I know what you’re thinking, “That’s a really vague idea,” and I know it is but I couldn’t think of anything at the time which would really describe what it is I really live and breathe for.

Since then, I’ve had time to think and define what it is I love the most in life.  I realized I had gotten excited when I started in network marketing because I was developing myself and learning new things.  New things I thought most people didn’t know.  Secrets that were hidden and nobody realized it.  I loved the mystery and the idea that I was becoming a better person.  That’s when it hit me!

I finally got it!  My passion was in Helping People Develop.  Helping them find a greater cause that would inevitably propel them towards a life more rewarding for them.  This seems a little too idealistic, right?  Maybe so.  But I’ve discovered for myself the rewards of helping someone change their life for the better.  Honestly, it’s got to be one of the most rewarding processes anyone can be a part of.

Now you might disagree but for me, this is the reason I live and breath.  Of course, I still want to make tons of money but really helping people achieve their goals is how I want to do it.  But it all starts with me… everyday.  And that’s an exciting idea to me.

So find out what’s exciting to you and post it in the comments below.  I’d love to see what everyone else is passionate about!
