Online Marketing is Music to My Ears!
I went to my daughter’s band concert tonight and completely enjoyed the whole evening. After the show, I took them out to get some ice cream. It was 9 pm on a school night but I just couldn’t resist myself! We drove around eating ice cream, listening to the radio, playing Phantom of the Opera, and just flat-out having a Blast!
And as much fun as I had tonight I just couldn’t help thinking about the concert! During the concert I noticed how being a good conductor applied to how some of us run our marketing campaign online!
Some have it down pat and can make some beautiful music online… While others just don’t seem to have it all put together just yet… It’s like they are stuck in the “Warm-Up” stage of the concert! And it’s not pretty!

First you have your Website – which contains your web copy, on page SEO, Optin form or the ordering form.
Then you have your Auto Responder – This has pre-loaded messages that teaches people, markets other peoples products and keeps you in contact with people that are interested in what you sell.
Then you have your off page SEO – which contains links to your website from external pages such as articles in directories, social networks, social bookmarks, forums and blogs and blog comments.
With all of these working together in harmony you have a usable and more than likely a profitable Online Marketing Campaign…. Without one of these components you could very well have just shot yourself in the foot and the whole “Concert” would be a flop!
So, with you as the Teacher or Conductor you have to get everything set up before you are ready for a public viewing. This means practice, tweaking, practice some more, and tweak some more.
What make this so much easier than being a Music Conductor is once everything is perfected and fine tuned, you can just leave it alone letting it bring you income on a weekly basis while you work on another project or visit friends and family or simply take naps all day long!

Copy Writing the Easy Way
Writing Web Copy really isn’t all that hard. All you have to do is, put yourself in your customers shoes… Begin to think like them… Learn their struggles, concerns, and what would help to truly solve their problem. If this sounds like too much work, then frankly, you either need to hire a copywriter for your website, only do affiliate marketing, or just hang it up now and go back to work!
Now that I have that off my chest. There are 2 HUGE Factors when looking at starting your Internet Marketing Business, the rest of it is child’s play and easily figured out.
- These are the 2 HUGE Factors that will determine your success online!
Factor 1: Traffic
Factor 2: Conversion
I listed them in that order but they are equally important. Without Traffic your webcopy will mean nothing and without webcopy you probably won’t make very many sales… If any at all!
Now, for you to put yourself in your customers shoes, you really need to understand people. If you are targeting the weight loss industry your customers are going to have a poor self image (more so than normal people have), they’re fat, more than likely lazy (in other words they probably don’t exercise much), have health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, and so on.
I haven’t done any research on this market, I simply used common sense and put myself in their shoes, plus I have a deep understanding and empathy for people. Now that you are in their shoes (their minds, really) you need to start asking some simple questions in the order I give them. Then you are going to answer them so leave some space for about 2-3 sentences.
Question 1: What is the Problem?
Question 2: Why Hasn’t the Problem Been Solved?
Question 3: What is Possible?
Question 4: What is Different Now?
Question 5: What should you do Now?
Those questions seem pretty basic right? Well, that’s because they are but they are still very important. This is where putting yourself in your visitors/customers shoes comes in to play. Now simply, write 2-3 sentences answering all the questions as directly as possible. And remember, it’s with YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE where they’ll find their solution.
Now you think you’re done right? Not really. Now you could go on and publish this and it will still get you some sales but you are going to need to “flesh it out” a bit before it’s ready for publication. Fleshing out is simply giving it some body, a little bit of life, and just in general going more in depth about those 2-3 sentences.
You need to appeal to your target audience in a way that they will want to respond. Use their wants, desires, fears, security, and hopes to draw them in then, at the very end close with a powerful “Call To Action.”
You Call to Action is basically a statement that tells the reader what to do next. Whether it’s to subscribe to your newsletter, buy your product, or call your office for your services, it’s going to need to be strong! Don’t be afraid to be direct. I mean PayPal’s call to action is “Buy Now” and they are doing Great! It’s even more effective when you use some fear of loss in the call to action, like this:
Order this Amazing Weight Loss Product called ‘Your Chance To Be Thin’ Today so this summer you can finally fit that Swim Suit you haven’t pulled out of the closet since you were in high school! Order Today and I’ll even throw in a Bonus eBook called “25 Ways to Keep the Fat Off” but you have to order today or I’ll pull the Bonus and you’ll miss your chance at saving yourself a $25 value!
You see how I used the fear of loss and insecurity in there to get them to take the action I want them to take? And what was the action? “Order Today!” Now don’t use the “Pull My Bonus Off the Page” stuff just to get sales, use it only if you really plan to do it! I would offer a huge bonus at the beginning of a marketing campaign until the program or product gained popularity, then I would pull it off the main page and add it as an OTO (One Time Offer) to future visitors or for an optin list.
I’ll discuss more of the OTO and building an optin list in some other posts and how you can use them to seriously increase your sales!

Step 1: Become an affiliate! You need to sign up as an Affiliate through either Clickbank.com or someone who has an affiliate program on their website. There are tons of programs out there so don’t think you have to stick with Clickbank.com, you can google “affiliate programs” and tons of results will appear. I only mention that one because it’s my favorite and I use it all the time so I can work from home the easy way.
Signing up with them is easy, costs you absolutely nothing, and they have a wide variety of products you can choose from in their market place. To sign up with them all you have to do is click on the “Sign Up” link at the top of their page. Then just follow the step by step process to create your very own affiliate account, and now you are on your way to your very own home business without that demanding, know-it-all boss!
Step 2: Pick your Niche! Now that you are an affiliate, login to your account by clicking on “My Account” and enter your username and password you selected when you created your account. Then, you have to pick a Niche, that is, the topic you are going to market. Normally people should stick to what they know as this is the quickest way and takes a lot less effort to market. Now don’t get scared, it’s pretty simple to make marketing money online. So, pick a topic in their market place that you already know something about and something that interests you the most. For example, maybe you are a dog lover so you might pick “Dog Training” or something to that effect.
To find the different topics they have, click on “Marketplace” at the top of the screen and it will take you to a page where you can search by keywords or just browse their marketplace by categories. Now that you have picked your Niche, you need to find a product that has a decent “gravity.” You don’t want something with an extremely big gravity but you don’t want a seriously low one either. Around 125 – 200 is good to start in. If the gravity is too high then there is going to be a lot of competition, if it’s too low then there aren’t enough people interested or the page just isn’t converting well and it will be hard to make marketing money the simple route.
Step 3: Start Marketing! Now that you are an affiliate and have a good website and product to market you need to grab your hoplink and start marketing that link all over the internet. You can do this in two ways; you can pay money and place an ad with google, if you have the money, or you can write articles and post them in directories, forums, and blogs. You can even do both, it’s completely up to you, but those are the two ways I recommend doing it.
